Typically Satyanarayan Puja is to be performed before and/or after the fulfillment of our desires e.g. if you want to achieve some important milestones in your life like success in Higher Education, Success in career, promotion, buying a new vehicle, new house, starting a new business, negotiating big professional deals etc...
Satyanarayan is also useful if someone in the family is not well.
In order to maintain general happiness, prosperity and well being of the family it is advisable to perform Satyanarayan Puja at least once every year.
There is no hard and fast rule as to when Satyanarayan Puja to be performed. Morning or evening time is ideal for Puja. You can perform it after major achievements in life. So also it is ideal to perform Satyanarayan Puja once every year. It is a great auspicious occasions to invite friends and relatives.
It is a custom to have some program of singing, dancing, playing musical instruments etc... with well wisher friends and relatives after the Puja is over.
Satyanarayan Puja is to be performed on an auspicious day in consultation with Panditji.
Satyanarayan is about 3.5 to 4 hours Puja.
Ganesh Atharvashirsha Avartan
Read MoreGanesh Atharvashirsha Avartan is performed on "Sankashti Chaturthi" which falls on the fourth day after the full moon day every month. Chaturthi coinciding with Tuesday is known as "Angariki". Atharvashirsha avartan carries a great significance on Sankashti.
However, if due to any reasonable constraints it is not possible to perform Atharvashirsha Avartan can not be performed on chaturthi, it can be performed on any other convenient auspicious day.
It is believed that Lord Ganesh removes sorrows & brings happiness in life by worshiping Lord Ganesh & performing Atharvashirsha Avartan. Most effective Avartan is Sahastravartan (1000 times), however, 108 or 21 Avartan are also very common & beneficial.
Note: During avartan if possible perform abhisheka to Ganesh Murti. After abhisheka, perform shodashopachar Puja of Lord Ganesh. If you perform avartan in the morning, take the fasting food like sabudana (tapioca) khichadi, fruits, milk/coffee/tea etc... If you perform avartan in the night, ensure avartan is complete by the moonrise time. Take regular food after offering Nevaidya to Lord Ganesh.
